Hi guys, firstly id like to say thanks for such a great forum,. ive uised it a few trimes but not found time to join.

I was on a shoot on saturday, very very muddy and boggy and my old freelander 1 2000 plate coped brilliantly even in mud up to the doors! however inbetween drives a friend used it and went down a big hole with a thud. The steering is now squeeling when the lock is on to the right and juddering.
i got underneath and noticed that the anti roll bar is misaligned and touching the suspension strut, do you think this could be causing the problems?

Ive read up on how to change the bushes and realign it, but do you think it could be bent and needs replacing? I have another freelander that i can scavenge from?

have you checked the power steering belt mate :)

it could just be full of mud and slipping when put under the strain of full lock!

Thank you,

i have checked the belt, i got my wife to put the lock on while i observed it and it dioes kind of "stutter" doesnt look right and I have ordered a new set of bushes and bolts for the ARB.

that'll eliminate one possible cause or fix the problem, lets hope it's the latter. :)

warning be very careful when changing the bushes, only use a known good socket and don't put a lot of downward force on it. if this happens it breaks the rivnut. drown it with WD40 first and allow to soak in :)

UPDATE
the ARB is re aligned, the knocking in the front was on the drivers side brakes one of the bolts had sheared that hold the caliper in place.Drilled out and new one in, while underneath i noticed the ancilliary belt was worn, changed that....like new again!!! all fixed

except the noisy passenger side rear bearing ):

jUST FOR FUTURE REFERENCE, THE LAND ROVER MANUAL SAYS TAKE OFF THE WHEEL AND PLASTIC COVER AND LOWER THE ENGINE ETC, MY MATE CUT THE OLD BELT OFF AND HAD THE NEW ONE THREADED ON IN UNDER 5 MINUTES!!!!! WITHOUT TAKING OFF ANYTHING!!!
