My Disco suspension seems to be a bit noisy, having not owned a Disco TD5 before or been in one much before buying it I wonder how much noise is too much noise?! I get a fair bit of clunking going over badly surface country lanes and the occassional clunk when coming off a roundabout or making rapid direction changes. It is fitted with self levelling air suspension.

I suspect it may be worn suspension bushes and wondered if anyone had any advice on:

1) The best way to check for wear in the bushes
2) Whether the various polybush kits (e.g. Britpart) are any good
3) And whether when changing the bushes you should also change the bolts and nuts

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom, here's my thoughts:

1. Check for worn bushes by taking the load off them ie jacking up the chassis until the wheel only just touches the ground then go round with a strong screwdriver prising apart the components with bushes. Basically at this age your bushes need changing. I would start with the ones at the rear, which control side to side movement.

2. Poly bushes are OK but the std rubber bushes are better.

3. I wouldn't change the fixings.

Cheers
Dave
