Steering not working

Hi folks
Just pulled onto the drive - turned the steering and I got a crunch and then nothing. The steering wheel turns very freely but the wheels stay put.
Im guessing its a UJ splines issue and will set to with the spanners tomorrow but does anybody think it could be the steering box?

It least it went on the drive!!! how very considerate

If it was box it would more than likely just go stiff and be hard to turn. Your probly onto something to check the steering uj first.

unless drag link ball joint has seperated

Thanks Robin - yeah I did a brief look around
The steering wheel just spins freely and I can see where the UJ disappears into the box - it sounded like splines stripped - Ive never taken one apart before so I dont really know what to expect.
DOes the steering column come apart in sections?

Quick update - I took off the bottom UJ and the splines have stripped.
Quick and easy fix I reckon
