Stripped top half of engine to replace head gaskets

Found it a new engine

Just finished welding up rear body mount on n/s . now have to think of puting it all back together

Took the spot lights off the front

Fitted new WATTS linkeage bushes

Got another puncture Took the spare which was flat to get fixed and that needs a new tube, two new tubes arriving tomorrow!

Thanks to Psulli16, I've now got a full width Allisport intercooler for it which will be fitted tomorrow.
Hoping it'll make a significant difference coupled with the fuel pump mod.

I've been hearing a merry little squeaking noise for a while now, which comes and goes as I drive around. It seemed to be getting to a stage where I couldn't just say 'Oh, it's dust in the brakes', so I had a look at where it was coming from.

Dunno if you can make it out in the picture but on the inner brake pad the friction material has released itself from its metal backing plate. Once out, it just fell apart

New ones in situ

Retaining pegs and springs in.


The only fiddly bit was pressing the pistons back into the cylinders to accommodate the new thicker pads, as I don't have one of those wind back thingys. Yes, I did the other side too, in the interests of symmetry and safety. But surely changing the pads shouldn't be that simple? It's got really posh vented discs too - imagine my surprise, as it's only a bog standard non-ABS Defender.

The skin colour is that shade thanks to copious amounts of fake tan and brush on nutella…….

when my Audi went in for repair (some twot in a white van ran into it) , a few years ago, they gave me a Micra as a courtesy car.

Good thing I didn't run into it then my bumper would have scared it into a cube, they're vile little hate boxes though!
