Hi,

So I changed the crank pulley there the other day as it sounded like it was going to come through the bonnet. Now there is an oil leak, its coming off the bottom of the bell housing so I presume it must be the rear crank seal? Any idea why that would leak after putting on a new crank pulley. There’s no way the seal at the pulley could be leaking and coming off the bell housing is there?

Thanks!

Not unless its running accross the bottom of the engine which would be obvious, its possible when you did the crankshaft main bolt that you disturbed the rear oil seal due to the amount of torque needed to do it up something like 460ft pounds, thats the only thing i could suggest

So the leak has now slowed right down, it's gone back to the small leak I've always had. My guess is oil came out when I did it but it sealed back up when I did the crank bolt and the oil that came out was the run off, is that possible?

Well its stopped now, was planning on taking the gear box out to change the seal but I'l be staying well away from it now;)
