smell burning oil when driving

Hi there. I can smell burning oil on my v8 inside the car when driving, it runs fine, no mis fire, no smoke. ????? Any idea's. It's ok if u take ur time but I ur going up hill or let it rev a bit u can smell it

rcover gaskets any thing that can leak on the exhaust spilled while topping up ???

Rocker gaskets,inlet valley gasket seals, head gasket,front cover gasket,oil cooler pipes to plenty to cause the problem

is there enough oil in it ?

There was before he went and thrashed it up a hill lol.

I would be concerned of the oil mpg rather than petrol mpg

U didn't overfill the oil did u?

It was a bit over the full mark so I have drained a bit off. But not triedbit since, It's now between min and max. And I was not thrashing it, just a bit harsh than normal driving, if u no what I mean. Lol. Rockers r ok etc, I do have a bit of a leak but nothing much. What about the breather pipes??? Could b blockt

oil from the leak hitting the exhaust is my guess

I I think u might b right mate. I am towing with it this week end. I hope it holds

If you spill a bit of oil when filling, it smells for ages until it burns off, if your engine was actually burning oil, you would see the evidence out of the exhaust.

Had the same problem. The culprit was in my case the inlet manifold.

Funny anuff my old p38 did set fire due to heat shield. Lol. There is no burning smell out of my exhaust , I have found a rocker cover very loose. But I thinks I might start to put a few new seals here and there, I hope it's ok for a bit.
