Anyone had to change a puma engine yet? WORKS 130 went down a grassy field over a 30 foot bank and landed on its side with the engine running, driver bailed out b4 it went over the bank. Thing is, the engine is locked solid, I removed the injectors, there was some oil but cant turn the engine, was thinking bent con rod maybe?
Any other opinions? Think we have found ane engine for 2 grand, best option I think.

Main question now, does this engine have to be married to an ecu?

Have you managed to marry ecu to new engine if soI am interested in knowing as have the same problim.
 
Why you'all bitching about that strong pulling TDCI engine? Forgotten how unpopular the TD5 was when it first came out an'now you'all singin it's praises. When it's bin around for awhile and the guys will know wots potting I reckon it has to be good. I'm fright for the new Defender and it's power train. Looks like a girls car and methinks Africa will be no good for a car you can't put yer beer and grub on the fender to eat or drink.Lions enjoyed chewing the plastic bumper on my daughter's Freelander.
 
Just had new injectors fitted to my 07 Defender but the mechanic suggests a new block in the not too far distant future. Car looked great when I bought it down here in France but turned out to have been a owned by a rental company in Spain! She has only done 85k but is a bit noisy. Better now with the new injectors and as the body etc are perfect I probably will consider a new block. I have no option but to fit the same engine as here in France you cannot fit anything other than the engine (or any other part) specified on the carte gris (V5) - bloody annoying - once again protectionist nonsense.
Any suggestion where I might be able to buy a recon block in the UK would be much appreciated. Best Hugh
