driving to work in my defender tdi200. a wee squeek then bang passanger back wheel locks up ansd i skid fot 150 yards, tried to drive no chance back wheel locked solid, went back after work startedit anditmoved andi was able to drive, a bit ofnoise seem to be comming from back wheel , could do with a new caliper regardless of what happened, any suffered the same

Am presuming prop, diff and half shaft all OK?

Could be a massively failed wheel bearing (but not sure wheel would lock up) or something bad with brakes - have come across with bits fitted poorly and coming loose

You got shoes or discs on yours?

discs , i've ordered anew caliper and two discs then take it from there

Have also come across the mud guard at the back of the disc causing problems catching, so worth checking that out as well - number of the guys have removed this completely

no mud shields is now an mot failure (so the tester told me this morning) told him I'd fit them when I go home ;)

Its a collapsed wheel bearing, willing to wager a beer or two if anybody is interested?

the squeak was it running dry, then the lock was it getting hot and expanding, let it cool for a while and it will release but sound terrible, had it on mine more than once sadly.

i thought that and i am hoping it is but theres no noticable movement of the wheel top to bottom side to side
