it lights up then says security. what next?

thanks

Which model radio is it?

the one in mine is the harmon kardmon,
you enter the code by pressing the "1" button then the >> button until the first digit shows then press "1" again for the next digit and so on and so on until all four digita are in the press "1" and the radio will work :D

if i turn my radio on itll say security and then stay on security.
it does not go off i tried inputing the code when its on it wont change the screen is this how i do it?
my radio product number is pu-9845a part number amr 2194lnf not sure what model exactly.
thanks

it may be that at some time someone has tryed to put a wrong code in. if so you may have to just leave it turned on for a bit (could be for a hour or more) & then it shuld say code.

D1 or two ? On D1 its the same one in many rovers so any handbook will give you the routine . Like the guys say , there is a time period that doubles each time a wrong code is entered , the book says do NOT turn off between trys , their emphasis .

from handbook , with some clarification by me (thats a laugh) , entering security code ...

switch on radio , "code" appears in display , press preset button 1

press one of the two tuning buttons (arrows , numbers up and down) to select first number . Press preset button 1 to store first digit . Next space starts flashing .

use either tuning button (arrows) to select second digit of code . Press preset 1 to store . Next space starts flashing .

select third digit using tuning arrows . Press preset 1 to store . Next space starts flashing .

select final digit using tuning arrows . Display now shows full 4 digit code . Press prest button 1 to store .

If correct code is entered radio sounds 2 tone bleep (sadly , not The Specials) and radio will operate .

If wrong code is entered "err" shows in display , do not turn off , wait until "code" shows , then start process again .

If you have CD changer under drivers seat ( I once drove for 2 months before I realised there was one there) then this will come on with the radio .

Hope this helps .

cheers i got a cheap cd player but its knackered too

cool, take it back to where ever you bought it from, I wouldn't care how cheap I got it, I would still want a working one, :crutch:

Bet you didn't take the advice, go to Halfrauds and buy a "new" cheap one, cause I am betting it will most likely work when you get it out of the box. Then I can get over all the sleepless nights that this issue is causing me and I'm sure all the other members. its been a worry. and a real thriller as you got the two best answers, how to get it repaired or get another..will you or wont you follow the advice.:amen:

It's a lot easer with the OPs Clarion head unit, you only have to enter the four digits.. correctly and thats it .:)

I never had the code activated for my discos Philips unit, had problems in the past with codes. :(

The Philips kit has long gone, now running with a Pioneer head unit and multi CD player so much better in every way :D
