Morning, am new to the forum. Wonder if anyone can give me some tips?
Am looking at a buying a 2004 Discovery 3 from a dealer (not Landrover).. 100k on the clock.

Car has a full service history from a Landrover dealer. 2 owners.

Looks to be in great condition the the outside / interior.

What else should I be looking for, and / or can anyone recommend an independent engineer to look at it?

Hope none of these questions are dumb - thanks for any advice.

It's due a very big service at 105k, so insist the cam belts and the rear HP fuel belt is done properly (and not just faked!). You are probably looking at a £1500 to do this service at a LR dealership.

Check the Electronic Park Brake is working - put it on and off 10 times in a row.

Check the air suspension changes height fast.

When driving, listen and feel for any wheel bearing issues - rumbles or pulling to one side.

Check under the vehicle for leaking brake pipes.

And check the service history for correct oil changes.

And don't by a manual gearbox, otherwise it is probably due a new clutch which is expensive to do.
