Just ringing around for quotes and am getting quite a shock...
i am a self employed carpenter which apparently means i need commercial insurance, despite the fact that i am only transporting myself and my tools, suppose it makes sense but the quotes im getting are all above £500. Im 34 with 8 years no claims and my missus is a named driver.
My last landy, not on commercial was £178 per year, so quite a difference.
Anybody else had the problem and found any decent insurers?
many thanks
bob

Any luck, border patrol? I have a W-reg D130 which is insured for business purposes, and my insurance is pretty low. About £200 I think, and that's without "no claims." and my wife as a named driver (although she won't). I use Aviva. So far so good. Try them online.

NFu mutual are really good for defender commercial insurance, **** for private use I paid 320 for defender commercial and they mirrored my ncd from private car. But when I sold defender and went to disco 3 it jumped to 800

OMG... just tried Aviva.... quotes from other companies ranged from about £300 - £900 (40 Year Old, on Drive overnight, No mods, No convictions etc) ... Aviva £4430.... guess they don't want to insure me!!!
