its the preload on the swival balls thats your problem + the ralko bushes in the top of you swivel housings that are worn and need replacing. currently rebuilding my front axle due to same thing. i can take some pics if needed. but thats what it will be. there is no / not enough preload on the swivel balls , to stop a wobble once it happens so the wheel will wobble till you stop then will seem fine untill you hit another bump.

simple to fix just a pain

Yeah some pics would be great, seems abit out of my league but will give it a go! If not its down to the local garage I go ha ha

I have just bought a Series I, 1954, and have the same problem, it is terrifying! We have checked and refitted the steering relay unit (the flange plate was not bolted in place), swopped the brake anchor assemblies as they were incorrectly fitted (front brakes with trailing shoe at the front!!!) and in so doing checked the wheel bearings etc. and had the wheels balanced, each step seems to have improved the problem a little, ie it is not every bump we hit now but when the wobble happens it is still hectic. I gather from all I have read so far that there is no "one" solution, so am working my way through the system slowly, the linkages seem to be in good order (had it up on stands to do the brakes and checked then) any logical places to go from here?
