Hi

I have a RR 2.5i Diesal that was working and driving fine. Came to use it next day and it wouldnt start at all. It turns over and make all the right noises but engine wont engage. Then the battery went flat. Ive had it taken it to a mechanic that has recharged the battery but still nothing. Has check and changed the glow plugs checked the batter and alternator but it still wont start.?????

Anyone had anything similar that may be able to help me please?

Thanks

Benson :(

What gog said - also check leak off pipes - when they go (and they always do) they allow it to suck air in - have a look at the clear pipe from the fuel filter while somebody cranks it over for you - if you see air bubbles in the line, you know where to look next

Engine check light on the dash? It's rare but even the diesels can lose sync from BECM to engine.

Your location and vehicle age might be a help.

Check the under bonnet fuse box for signs and smells of burning, could be the stop solenoid on the FIP is not operating. Otherwise the in tank pump is favorite. Low cranking speed will also cause a non start so if your battery is not tip top that could be the problem.

I reckon it's the low battery voltage, it gets low the becm gets amnesia and the sync gets bolloxed. Resync required then a new battery.

I know have my RR back and have been using it for several days.

Now I have ANOTHER problem!! I went to try to get in it this morning and the central locking want working so I tried to open the door manually. Too no avail.

I have had GF out and they managed to get into it and charge the battery to discover the code.

"KEYCODE LOCKOUT" Back to square one Can not use it at all!!! What does this mean and how do I fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Benson

It means your battery is probably no good or to small. Stick a C31-1000 Alphaline from Battery Megastore in. 135AH, 1000CCA. Cures all manner of ills. then you can sort out the Keycode Lockout and also check that the RF receiver is not keeping the BECM awake.
