Hi,

I have had a couple of RRs and a disco but have always wanted a "proper landrove"

So after months of deliberation I have finally bitten the bullet and bought one !!!!!

I have looked at discos, and RRs, both of which I have owned, and decided my life would not be complete without having owned a 90

So I have bought one.

Its a 1985 on a 'C' 145k on the car, but the engine has been swapped for a 200tdi unit with 100k on the clock.

Its had disco seats fitted, it has a full length roof rack, towbar and power steering, full bull bar on the front.

Problems

needs a small amount of welding behind the rear springs. The seller is going to fix this before I collect.

Clutch is a little high.

Its a bit scruffy looking but nothing some TLC will not sort out, so it will be a bit of a rolling project.

So here is the old girl

£2500 with the welding done. Good price or not?!!

Rubbish!

Go for BFG's on steel rims - the best size to go for is 275/75/15's. Nice and chunky, good grip, about £400 for a full set. Will do you 100K miles and get you out of the mire.

Did you pay that for it or get a bit off? What's the chassis like - that's the only really important thing.

£2500, and there is a patch behind each of the rear springs that will need welding, but he is going to do that before I collect. It has had some welding done beforehand to, but it will be cleaned down and any other welding then needs doing will be done then shultzed to within an inch of its life :)

I have found my vision......

I asked him to put the car through an MOT today for peace of mind,
Good job too.

It failed on the front suspension top mount, so he is doing this tomorrow. The chassis corrosion only came back as an advisory but still getting it done anyway.

Had some other advisories too but the main thing is when I collect it will have 12 months MOT. I can pick up the other advisories in the coming 11 months.

I need to remove the chequer plate from the back, Is I think it looks a bit odd.

I want some bigger spot lights.
Some wheel spacers, (cant really afford bigger wheels and tyres at the moment)

The roof rack needs to come off and be cleaned and re-painted
The front bumper needs a coat of paint.

I am sure you guys will come up with something I have missed.

Yup what's under the chequer plate

I have seen the wheeler dealers episode, that one looks pretty smart.

My wife was not too happy about the sticker as she works for Wiltshire Council

I took the plunge today, and removed the 'orrible bit of chequer plate from the rear x member, I was kind of expecting the worst, but had a pleasant surprise.

SOLID :cool2:

And after a rub down and a coat or 2 of satin black

Did the spare wheel too.

The rear door was not in such a good state?!
