Recommended tools for beginners!

As a relative newbie to Land Rover rebuilds I thought I'd share some of the tools I've found useful.
The Halfords professional 150 piece set - when on special offer! (around £100)
A set of imperial spanners (car boot sale)
LED rechargeable work light, with magnetic mount and moveable head
36" wrecking bar... Aldi have them for £5 at the moment
Clarke Electric Impact Wrench, I don't have a compressor and it is an absolute dream, I'm not sure how I managed without it before!
Angle grinder with wire brush
Rechargeable impact drill/driver - it saves mashing up the heads of the swine when they are seized!
Aston Super Wrench (from a NEC show) I've found them very useful when I'm properly stuck!
The list is not exhaustive and I'm sure others will add to it but hope it helps someone!

Oh, the draper expert ratchet set is very useful too

Stud extractors
Tap set
Ball joint seperator
Mate with a welder
Big hammer
Axle stands

and the list goes on

cant think of a time ive ever used ball joint seperator,just use proper hammer dont damage joint

angle grinder. no land rover without one...

oxy acetylene, welder...

Did anyone mention an even bigger hammer?

12V microwave and fridge

Drybollick jacks

Plenty of etceteras!

The repair manual and know which end of the wrench to use. And FCS get six point sockets and wrenches for you don't strip bolt and nuts, you never will with six point tools

Impact driver, crow bar, rubber mallet for more delicate thumps

I'd add:

Feeler gauges
Nut splitters
My latest aquisition - a pipe flaring tool.

and an even bigger hammer than those previously mentioned.

A wide range of sockets (including a set of impact) and spanners in metric and imperial
Trolley and bottle jacks
Nut Splitter
Chisel set

And a really good vice. Mine's drinking.

Oh yeah, and an even bigger hammer. Steam powered if possible.

few bits of old tools in a box will get you started , then keep buying more , when you spend more on tools than yer mortgage your doin it right

other bits i use a lot, harrison lathe, radial driller, power hacksaw and me 50tonne press

wheres the really big hammer? nice collection though!

I bought a set of these Irwin Bolt grips a few months ago, wish I'd had them for years, so handy for those knurled/rusted bolts etc.

I've never seen Irwin bolt grips before, thanks for the tip. I've used the aston super wrenches successfully on similar situations but no good if you can only get at them with a socket!
