inside lane, coming up to,by and just past junction..there is a speed limit lower than main motorway limit..ie normal limit 130kmh,but by junction 90,then 70...

does this apply to vehicles leaving at jucntion (going on to exit lane)or as i expect to inside lane of motorway to allow for incoming traffic??

thanks

n.b.french dont half drive slow.(though they like to TRY and cut you up.(just once mind..):lvhearts-151::lvhearts-151::lvhearts-151::lvhearts-151:.totally excusable cos of their lovely women though...

The lower speed limits only apply to slip roads as far as I understand.

Controlled acceleration I believe on the slip road, main carrigeway has the standard speed limit.

The French don't generally drive slow, the women are something else, much better dress sence than the usual brit women...

Correct, speed limit is for slip-off when sign on slip road only. But some junctions do have speed limit on all lanes (normally only 2 lanes urban m-way), signed on side and middle of road. (Beware speed limits drop when roads are wet.)
Some of those you`ve seen driving slow are prob on their hols, and will be quite fast enough come the run into work after an extra coffee in the morning....

It's for the exit slip.
Never noticed the French driving slow except in the traffic jams round Paris, just like the M25:rolleyes:

ta..as i expected..

no the frrench drive too slow for my liking..espically on motoways and n routes...(except the motobikes)..all seem to **** their pants when an old 40 yr old 4x4 hacks past them spitting flames on the over run...

understand why around paris, far too many police .

AND I DO SLOW DOWN TO 50KMH for the villages..i have no desire to run anyone down..seems a shame to do 90 on those lovely n routes though, they are built for speed..

to which i am driving back to calais tomorrow..taking extra long route via n routes,no motoways, just for fun..(and scenery and picnic along the way)

Watch out for hidden cameras and mobile laser units on the N routes. Supposedly from 2012 I think, they are going to be able to add points to your UK licence.
