Just changed the matrix seals only to find the matrix has gone for wee in my foot aswell. Removed most of the gear from around it. Can't get it passed the steering column. Will I have to remove this aswel. How much has to come out?

Cheers

Chris

no rangrovers.net

No cutting is required, the ducting DOES NOT require cutting and the secret hole that is described in rangerovers.net allows you to unscrew the clamp.

Some gentle persuasion required to separate ducting

Just checked can only find lhd method.

There wasn't any guides in rangerovers.net for the RHD when I did mine earlier in the year. I seem to recall that I undid the two bolts that hold the lower support frame in place. You can then give the frame a fair amount of abuse which will allow you get it out of the road. I never removed the steering column The matrix will come out past it but it does lightly scrape it. No damage though.

Cheers, I have just removed the lower frame with a saw so I have just got the wires and the column to negotiate. Made some little brackets to put the frame back. Was getting late so I gave up until tomorrow.

Thanks for the help much appreciated.

Just finished. Must say must say I am not very happy with the angle of the the matrix pipes as the mate with the plastic on the new matrix. Hopefully it will last ok.

The old matrix had failed around the seal on the join between the plastic end and the steel clamp. Crap material for the gasket I expect. Might pull it to bits and see what's happened on the weekend.

Basically swap out the heater matrix out for a specific A6 from the 90s there is a thread on rangerovers.net will try and dig it out when I am at home this evening.

There you go I knew it was out, Both are level, you can clearly see the difference in the angle.

Best get on the blower hey.

Put it back in with bigger o-rings and silicone, seems to have sealed it for now.
