Hi all, new the the landy world and really been thrown in the deep end..

Been given this by girlfriend's mum, 2.25 petrol series 3, not been on the road for at least 10 years, but has been at a tanking place near silverstone used as a run about...

Obviously it runs (just) smokes like a pig, oil getting in somewhere :(

Plan is to drop a 200 Di engine in there, raise the thing up a little but not much, kit the back out for storage, full length roof rack (bumper to bumper styles), and a roof tent, then drive out to Nepal in him in about 3 years time or so...

Might even go further depending on finances... ;)

Anyways, some pics from when it was painted last - will get some better pics when we pick it up Monday...

You think that that old thing would make it to Nepal? It probably wouldn't make it to the end of the track!

You would be far better off giving it to me ... Just to save you from building up trouble for years to come!! ;)

I am only thinking of you, you understand! :D

I'm actually much closer to Silverstone so I think it would be much easier all round if I actually took it off his hands. I wouldn't even charge to go and fetch it either! Oldseadog I'll then pass it on to you if it's gonna cost too much to do up ;)

All donations gratefuly received, because I am just a poor boy and my story's seldom told. I squandered my resistance for a pocket full of mumbles such were promises! All lies and jests ... !

Sorry!!

Ha ha.. Haven't even seen the thing yet dude.. Could be a complete rot box...

:welcome2: to the forum and the world of Land Rovers.
There's no "could be" about it, it will be rotten, nothing will work and all the oily bits will be knackered.

In three years time you will be an expert in many Land Rover skills such as welding, spannering and lifting heavy things.

You will also be skint.

You will never get your hands clean again.

Your non Land Rover owning friends will avoid you for going a bit weird, except when it snows and then every body will want to be your friend.

You will never make it to Nepal because you will be forever doing one last job or adding one more vital piece of kit to your overlander, then you'll get another one that will be better for that trip of a lifetime and it will all start again.

It's very sad but I'm afraid that's the way of the Land Rover owner.

Ooo is that at Tanks alot, always wanted to go round there, work round that neck of the woods.

Landy looks good from the outside, hope it don't cause you too many issues.

For some reason, you will find that the most appealing smell known to mankind is that of warm EP90 ... second only to the smell from the exhaust where the rocker cover gasket doesn't quite fit and you burn the odd drop of oil as it seeps it's way southwards!

:welcome2: Welcome to the world of the never-ending story of LandRovering!!

Depends a bit where you put the e. It should be strangely, not strangley or strangly ;)

Will it make it to nepal? Its a landy mate it'll go anywhere, but as a new owner of old landies just remember when it says the tanks empty its bloody well empty.

I wish my girlfriends mum had a landy to give me, I'm lucky if i get an airfix kit.

I didn't know Nepal was near Silverstone, but my geography ain't that great. LOL
