Sorry James I couldn't resist it..
Lost all drive... don't know what is wrong, but time dictates swap is better than fix. Plus I know less about gearboxes than I do about female moods!!!

I was driving at about 30mph and just accelerated (I don't think it even dropped down) then with a very slight thud, all drive had gone... I tried lo whilst rolling, it crunched in but no drive, I tried difflock but same effect.

Have checked oil which is good and full. Someone on here did say it may be a shaft between tranny and box losing splines (could have been you).

tbh I don't want to get involved with removing the box. My wife is trying to convince me to get something else (and I am tempted) but we're both emotionally attached to her (Disco that is) and I've done loads of stuff to keep her going already!

Just been out and tried rev again... no drive in any gear. also tried gently revving up to 2k and it didn't change up which I would expect if box was ok and tranny was at fault.

possible drive plates sheared you can check by seeing if torque convertors turning there should be access underneath asa it wont come with another box

Well I've been so busy with work and having put me back out! I've not looked at the box... but I'm guessing that it may be the TC rather than the box itself... There are not any disco TC's about, I'm wondering (may have read somewhere) if a V8 TC will fit and if so if there are any mods that will be required to fit to the 200TDi?

afaik the transfer boxes are the same apart from the input gear, just check the serial number to make sure the ratios are correct etc. ashcroft website has all the info so you can find out exactly what youve got and exactly waht you need etc.

take the PTO cover off the back of the transfer case to see if the gearbox outpuit shaft is turning.
