Ok so Swindon is only 8 miles square, but has a LR scrap yard and 2 independent Retailers and a TH Whites, who even keep in stock swivel pin shims and cv end float shims for D1's.

So to start with we have an abundance of cheap and OE spares.

Then theres Wiltshire with 819km of Bye-ways made up of 145 paths!!!! Theres a further 214KM of restricted bye-ways. Not to mention the "tracks"

I am not even going to mention Berkshire which is just 10 miles away.

So go on then. how does your town & Country compare to that..........

somerset  is ****! can not think of more than about 3 and only 1 of them is worth doing and its TRO'D

Ceridigion and Carmarthenshire are on hour away from me, both have plenty lanes to keep you busy including Brechfa and Strata so nuff said there, but Pembrokeshire??

LOAD OF ****E!! Pembs CC have progressively been closing all the lanes over the last 15 years so virtually nothing left now!

I would have to say the surrounding districts of Whangarei, New Zealand. Well, it is my back yard!!

i live in bournemouth but work in Warminster, we took our land rovers up to Tidworth at the weekend and the MOD police were out in force, fined within five minutes, pulled over 4 times, we even saw wiltshire police in an kitted up X5....booooo

not much for offroading around ere,
used to be a nice pay and play like 15 mins from my house but thats closed now :(
typical as i'm just coming into the land rover world and looking to buy a 2a
got some nice greenlanes though ( its not called the garden of england for nothing!)

Hello Mate, you don't know of any P and P sites around that area do you? Minety has shut down now so we are planning a trip to the plains but can't find anywhere else?
Thanks, Harry

Not a clue :L ive been searching but nearest is bristol really :( let me know when your off down the plains or what ever as im dying for some people to go laning with!!! Chris

Well I found a couple, Foxham and Avon Basset?? Apparently they are within an hr but whether they are still open i'm not too sure. I have a big list of other ones to google when i find a minute. :D

Have you tried the fosse way green lane? it's a nice long scenic drive with a couple of fords.

I'll let you know next time we are all going, it may not be until autumn because we are all back home from the ag college for summer now.

Harry

Are you talking off roading, or are you taliing greenlaning?
There wasn't a massive amount of off roading sites or specialists in the East midlands where I'm originally from.
However, after moving to the Northwest, I have to say that Lancashire and Yorkshire are definately the counties to be in if you're into off roading.
Just do a google search of the number of off roading sites in the UK and you'll see what I mean

Theres fook all in lincolnshire for greenlanes, which i find weird for the amount of fields we have!

We do have kirton for pay and play and a couple of good spares suppliers (famous four and Rimmerbros).

I saw one featured on countryfile a while back this year - I think it was near Calne, but there is so much available in bye ways - I will never pay to drive off road.
