Great green Hibernia .
Can anyone tell me the most obvious reason not to bolt on a monocoque shell of a freelander to the chassis of a mitsi pajero/shogun.
I know the most obvious would be wheel base .

I asked my dad how much he might want for his mitsi pajero ,€1,500. Nothing wrong with it just dated and japanese in style .
.Its a 2.8 auto . I would have to do or swap something to make it a manual transmission . Or whack in which ever is the best defender engine/or other make .

The pajero is commercial,so I might keep/run both .

saw a gaylander bolted to a rangie some time back.[/quote] Disgusting !! the things these gays get up too these days  anything for a cheap thrill...

no matter how many slitty or rangie parts you bolt to it the fact of the matter is

it will always be a gaylander !!!
Whatz wrong with that . I just want the body fixed to a substansial roll/crash cage . Its easy beef up th body wory to accomodate a much bigger engine and tranny . Might be worth looking into stipping lotz of weight off the mitzi it still has the 5 seats sometimes and the 6and7 are stashed .

Help wanted please! A friend bought a Mitsubishi Shogun on eBay which now owes him well over £2000. The chassis turned out to be badly rusted from the inside (it is full of rust flakes and its holed) Angry about a "bent MOT" he phoned VOSA who came and gave it a Prohibition Notice - duh! The car looks lovely from the top but IMHO it really needs a new chassis as the metal is now very thin. Where can a new chassis be obtained? Are there any firms that duplicate chassis? Will a Land Rover chassis fit or can one be adapted?

Just a thought, have you considered posting this on a Pajero/Shogun forum where someone might be able to tell you more about them, and yes, I suppose it is possible to make a Land Rover chassis fit, but only if you cut it into lots of little pieces first and weld it back together in the shape of a Mitsubishi chassis.

my shoguns got very little rust, got a rear diff lock as standard and best of all is reliable.
when i find a land rover that i can drive without worrying about it getting me where i want to go then i'll get another as i do love em.
until then i'll stick with the slitty:D

gave up on pajero after bottom pully ripped itself off the engine, then the steering linkage dropped off ,then the electrics packed up,and the gearbox was ****e, so yeah reliable:rolleyes:

s'funny, my pulley hasn't ripped apart. it started delaminating but it gave plenty of warning and it cost £70 to fix. mine is at 170000 miles now and the gearbox is fine.the electrics work just fine as well.
the rangerover i had was just a money pit and i got that with a full service history as i stupidly thought that would be a help:rolleyes:. my discovery disintergrated at both ends and worked it's way to the middle and i have had 2 freelanders:doh:
the only landie i have had that was decent was my series 3 but even that took a lot of work to get right then keep it running right.
as long as my slitty is reliable i'm happy. every land rover i've owned has had some sort of built in self destruct circuit just so it lets ya down when you need it.

it's a shame cos when the slitty was right it was lovely to drive but let me down far too often for the £4000 it cost me ,at least my 90 is cheap to fix and easy to work on but each to their own.
