Morning chaps,

had a quick search but haven't had any luck.

My passenger side reverse light is staying on, doesn't matter if the engines on or off, locked or not its sitting their looking at me like a reminder that i shouldn't praise the damn thing!

any ideas of what it could be?

have to do a long journey tomorrow so would rather have it sorted!

Thanks for any help,

Tommy

No idea
Possably a short circuit somewere in the short term id pull the bulb out cos if old bill sees you it'll cost you £60 plus if it on constantly it'll drain your battery overnight

cheers, yes think pulling the bulb is the temporary solution definitely.

could it be a battery drain problem, haven't done a long journey for a few days

bulb removed.

I was wondering if battery drain over a few days of non use could have caused it to cock up on me.

Tommy

p.s i don't want to have to buy a normal car

no messages at all, even when the bulb is out (apart from the airbag fault which is where muggins who owned it before took the instruments out with out taking the battery off)

does that imply becm?

usually they love giving a nice warning!

I haven't looked but I would guess it's a MOSFET transistor in the BECM, most of the bulbs are switched that way which is how the BECM knows when there is a bulb failure. If the MOSFET has blown there may be no error message bacause the signal that indicates a bulb failure would not change state.

ok, just been for a little drive, bulb failure came up on the dash, but when i put the bulb back in it still came straight on and stayed on.

any change to diagnosis?

I still think the BECM is the likely cause, but it's worth checking the wiring for shorts. Try a PM to irishrover or rick the pick, they are the BECM experts.

Just looked at RAVE, the reverse lamps are definately driven from the BECM on 2 seperate lines. If one is working OK, that eliminates the inputs from the reverse switch/XYZ switch. Looks like a MOSFET failure.
