Hi all. been a while since i had a post up on here. my 90 has been treating me sweet! runs fine. but the M.O.T of the day says otherwise haha

seems like i have quite a shopping list ahead of me haha

first things first is my shockies! seems tho im going to be replacing 2 of them i mays well replace the lot and the springs too. just wondering what everyones choice of brand is and wich brand has been proven to be more comfortable?

cheers for the replys in advance folks

Unless you tow heavy gear I'd stick to standard springs...not HD as they can make the ride harsh.

I've used "All Makes" which are as cheap as Britpart, but hopefully will be better build quality. They seem to be serving me fine so far :). The ride is very smooth (for a Defender anyway).

yeah well i was told to steer clear of all britpart so i wont be going there lol. i was looking at procomp and terrefirma. i only had my landy a year and im still learning alot about the thing. done all the work my self but would just like plenty of oppinions on difrent brads of shockies and springs.

cheers for the reply

Ive got terrafirma shocks all around the plus 2 on the front and plus 5 on the rears. rides okay, seem nice and chunky and well built, not stupidly expensive as well, pretty sure its on std springs.

Last week I installed a Terrafirma light duty +2" kit on my 110 CSW, and am well pleased with it.

Biggest improvement is the damping, no more uncontrolled bouncing. The 'light duty' spring stiffness is perfect for me, too. I was torn between the 'light' and 'medium' kits, but am glad I didn't go for the latter, it would have been too stiff and too high for my usage.

What size wheels have you got on your 90 though? I have 265/75/16 on my 110, and they just about look alright with the raised suspension. If you are running 205s I'd advise you to stick with a standard height set up, or fit bigger tyres, as it'll look silly otherwise :p:D

I got my kit from these guys, MM-4x4, good service overall.

Yeah I was looking at terafferma kit. The tyres on my landy are 235/85/16. I was going to go for a 2" lift as well. By the sound of things the light duty springs are the way forwards! Sounds like what I'm looking for :) cheers for the reply langers!

Anybody use procomp? Would like to hear what people think about there performance?
Plenty of research before spending alot of money lol

Im having similar issues choosing shocks and springs.

Ive read all the threads on here, Ive decided that its mostly down to choice. Some people have had bad experiences with pro comp shocks, other people think there fine. Others have britpart stuff and say its fine others hate it(me included).

Ive never heard anything bad about Old Man Emu shocks. I will be buying a set for my 90 when i can remember to phone gwyn lewis. Ive started to go into wales and go laning and some of the terrain is pretty brutal so im going to (hopefully) buy once and buy right. Saying that a friend of mine has 5" pro comp shocks and he does the same things as i do, think i heard him say hes replaced a shock once in a couple of years.

Think it depends on your budget and how many opinions you believe.

Good luck

Matt

some britpart stuff is **** but ive fitted **** loads of yellow spring and yellow gas shockers ,all have been good upto now some 3-4 years ago

Im sure some is probably fine but ive had a couple of bad experiences myself so i just dont want to give them my business. I have a mate who has britpart springs on his 110 CSW and he says there fine but he dosent go to wales and the lakes etc. i actually dont know why he has a lift because he uses it for towing. but hey thats a different matter.

I like the bearmach stuff, but others slate that too.

Choices choices hey :)

Here in the land of OZ, we have a suspension manufacturer named "Pedders". They make all types of suspension components for all types of vehicles. I went with standard springs all round. Gas shockers on the rear, with air assisted bags on the back also. Nice soft ride, but firm and the ability to put some more air in the rear when I carry a load or tow. Replaced all rubber components with Polyurethane bushes for longevity. Sway bars front and back finishes the package nicely, and drives and steers like its suppose to.
