Ok so got my ball joints changed and the mechanic said he was hitting the old ones for hours to get them out.

Got disco back from the garage with the three amigos on. They were off before I got the ball joints changed.

Hooked it up to a code reader and it said "Shuttle valve sticking"

I presume though it could be the speed sensors that could have been damaged with all the hitting to remove the ball joints.

Shuttle valve wouldnt have been affected by all the knocking of the ball joints.

Anybody experienced anything similar??

now i dont have much faith in these £300 code readers, and it sounds like you dont either.
so what you going to do run with it, or do what you think.
Or do you have 2 seperate problems and its only finding one.

I don't understand something - why did you bother to hook up a diagnostic machine to your car if you have no intention to follow up what it suggests is the problem?

The ABS modulator shuttle valve is a common cause of the three amigos so why not investigate first?

i use a hawkeye cost less than £300 but is good .but you do often get faults that arent real problems maybe just low battery or something stuck for a little time you have to use experinence and common sense even with test book,i would remove sensors first and make sure castleated ring is clean and sensor sat right ,sometimes it hewlps to remove oring on sensor to prove the point then fit new ones

Its just too much of a coincidence that yer man was whacking away for 5 or 6 hours at the ball joints and when he puts the new ball joints in and turns on the ignition the 3 amigos come on........... for the first time ever!

Tried having a look at them today.

I presume you need to take the caliper off and metal mud shield. Was changing the rotors last week and saw the wire going into the rear of the hub.

how do you change them, just pull the wire out?

If you took it to a garage to get some work done and it came back with new fault lights surely you can take it back to the garage and get them to sort it. They werent there before.
