Hi

About once a week when I try to start my discovery when I turn the key nothing happens, the ignition lights come on but when you turn the key the last bit to engage the starter motor nothing at all happens no noise clicking at all. But once left for a few minutes it will start properly as if nothing was wrong.

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts on this.

Thanks in advance

hello i had the same and i bought solenoid contacts and it solved it
£9.95 on e bay and a couple of hours to remove the starter and fit contacts and then refit it
job done

hi i had this problem on mine.
(well actually had 2 problems causing the same thing)

1st one was the switch on the back of the steering lock, fixed that by removing it and buying a can of switch cleaner from a firm called RS Components, and spraying it in to the switch for a few seconds, rotate switch for a few mins and squirt in some more!
Now mine was improved and after a 2 days of use never had the problem back
2nd one...the more i think about it was different as the engine would turn but not start,
this was the immobiliser, removed it (following at thread on here) soldered it up and refitted it. been fine ever since, infact i think now that these problems are why the last owner sold the car.
Ho Btw switch on steering lock around £70-80 quid can of cleaner £5 and you get to use it on other things!! you can also get the same type of thing from mapplin.
The brand id recommend is "Servisol super 10 switch lubricant"
Hope that point you in the right direction

Mine does it from time to time, i just open front passenger door with the alarm armed, alarm goes off press fob, lock and unlock and it starts, depends how often it happens to take more action, try it if it happens again you got nothing to loose anyways
