still unsolved ...........

Disco td5 auto 03 with misfire/ rough tickover and reduced power.

Changed injector wiring loom as ecu plug showed the signs and also have run a new parallel loom from the engine plug to the ecu to rule out residue oil and later chaffing problems.
Ecu inspected , no oil ingress
Maf tested with multi meter , getting a circuit but showing some resistance ?
although nothing noteable happened when i unplugged this whilst engine was running ?

Can't seem to hear the fuel pump in the tank at all ? ............ have checked fuse, and relay making nicely, also tried to do a self bleed request (on the key and five dips on the gas pedal) heard nothing from the pump at all ? ................ should i be able to ?? and is it possible to drive it with half a tank and no primary pump running ??

hope someone can help

Col

Ok :) ........ i'm learning as we go along !! :)

Have tried several times to hear it even on the self bleed operation .......... nothing !

Might have to lift the carpet at the back to get to it properly.

Could maf sensor give me this trouble ?

Regards

Col

Your MAF sensor has nothing to do with this problem, what you need is a new fuel pump as your's is fooked.

If your still worried about the MAF after the engine is running disconnect it and see if it makes difference.

right ! :) ................ have ordered a new fuel filter as that's a cheap item and it won't take much doing ......... thinking along the lines of do that first before ordering big bits £££.
Motor has only done 60k and i've had it 5 yrs now ........... i don't think the fuel filter has been changed ! so i may well have myself to blame for all this !!

hi guys,

Thanks for the posts.
I'm sad to say my fuel pump passed away today as i parked on the drive ................. at least i know what the problem is now as some of you rightly suggested.

Thank you for the advice ............ pump change this weekend ! ...... any tips ??

col.

I'd be checking the relay before I changed the pump - I found the contacts on mine (defender) to be crusty with carbon - it wasn't the cause of my problems, but it didn't help.
