Hi all, was just wondering where is the best place to get some new seals and filters for the EAS compressor. And are there some better than others?

How much should i be looking at just to give it a quick refurb and make sure all is running smoothly on the inside?:bounce:

Just don't buy the ones on ebay that come from Holland. I, and several others on here, had problems within a few months of fitting them.

There are some supposedly super duper ones from the states with stainless stell barrels for the compressor but once you've done the refurb and if your barrel's not scored then the kits from most of the reputable Landy part suppliers seem good and at that price you could do it every couple of years if you fancied.

I want do mine. Not got the cash to replace the air bags at monent, so thinking of doing the commy then the bags. Obviously it best to strip then order parts, but how do you purge the air out of the system?

Before anyone starts I know what I mean, but allow me to rephraise. How do you empty the system before start playing abou with it? By purge i mean empty the system.

You do not need to depressurise the system to remove the compressor. Plus if you change the seal ALWAYS change the cylinder. No matter how good it looks. If you do need to empty system and do not have EASunlock software. Just disconnect compressor wires. Operate a few times to deplete air, set to access and pull violet pipe to empty tank, then other four corner pipes to empty air bags. Just put a cloth over them as they are being pulled to stop **** getting in your eyes or wear some goggles. Or even if you are really cute just shut your eyes as you pull them.

It runs on solonoid valves dont it. When my garden done, I will look into taking it apart. Cheers again Wammers

No the compressor is just what it says on the tin. A compressor, there is no pressure to it whilst it is not running. When air reaches full pressure and compressor stops air in feed lines is dumped to atmosphere to allow exhaust air to us same gallery to reverse flow through drier to remove moisture.

It's marginal for the job it does, so any extra load is not to be recomended. You can buy a 200psi 12 volt tyre inflator for £6 (£20 from Halfrauds) which I'm sure would do the job:)

I meant to only supply locker air, not EAS & Lockers - dont think my 200TDi has EAS :D.
I know you cant use an air con compressor, coz they dont like being used without lubricant :(.

Well yes i suppose it would be ok. The problem maybe sorting a tank and some kind of pressure cutout switch maybe through a relay. But not an insurmountable problem.

yeah - OK Wammers :p.

My understanding of compressors is that 2 figures are critical....

1) max P.S.I.
2) recovery rate - i.e volume.

Tiz no good have a 200PSI compressor that takes 15 mins to recharge a tank. Not very useful if yu need to use your lockers for 10 mins .

MHM, those Air-con compressor is good for quite a few years. google, Endless Air. many 4x4 getting around over here with these, and easy enough to set up yourself. cheers.

The EAS compressor will do around 175 psi if pushed but is pretty low volume and possibly would not last long at that rating. It depends how much pressure the lockers need to work. If they only need 10 psi a tank like that fitted to the P38 with 150 psi in it would last a fair time. And the EAS compressor would fill it without getting a sweat on.

As I understand it - On-board air requirements are as follows......

Compressed clean 90 psi air for lockers,
clean 150 psi air for tyres,
oiled 90 psi air for air tools

But the other key element is volume, i.e. the amount of air used each time you use the locker and the frequency of use. I would still maintain that a 12 volt tyre inflator of a suitable size would do the job with say a P38 air tank and a pressure switch. Not sure why you would need 150 psi for tyres, WTF sort of tyre requires that sort of pressure? Air tools need huge air volumes, I suggest you tow a second hand diesel Rotovane air compressor for those:rolleyes:

Lol
I wasnt saying I wanted those - just that those are figures I have seen on the interweb.

I wonder if an old Fire extinguisher would do as a reservoir?
P38 tanks are rated....
Capacity 9.7 Litres,
working pressure 14 bar,
test 28 bar.

Fire extinguisher is rated....
CO2 - Capacity 3 Litres,
working pressure 169 bar,
test 212 bar.

H2O - Capacity 6 Litres,
working pressure 15 bar,
test 28 bar.

Any thoughts?
