Vogue tv screen? can you make it digital? How?

Hi all,

just had a thought, i will soon bet getting my RR L322, and am really after a vogue, but with all this talk of the "digital" switch over has got me thinking, the tv's in RR's are anologue arent they?

Can they be made to be digital? and how do you do it? and the most impostant thing....... how much?

any help would be great.

Yes it can be done. It's been covered at length previously if you search the forum. But really how often do you actually watch the TV in your car? I hardly ever put mine on as when the car is stopped I'm normally getting out to go somewhere!
 
So is there an actual definitive solution to this then? i have searched the forum, and there doesnt seem to be anyone who says "this is what you want, and it works as i have tried it for myself"

There are tons of 12v digital boxes on ebay, but whats the difference between all of them? i dont think i'll have time to try half a dozen of them before finding the best one, let alone wasting money of duff units that promise the earth but dont deliver!!

Some one must of done this? can you describe what you did and how well it works, changing channels? signal reception?

I think i would get my use out of it for passengers, and i would have "tv on the go" too so it can be on all the time when driving or parked up waiting for people!!

HELP!!!
 
I think (don't own one yet!) that TV is something I probably wouldn't use .... BUT!

.... I have plugged into my TV in the living room a WDTV Live player and connected to that I have a 640Gb Passport drive full of films & TV series.

I'm going to be looking into adding one of those to the aux input.
 
You wont be the first,I had one in a while ago for battery drain problems - the muppet who wired it in had fed it with a permanent live.... So that was the battery drain issue. Cant remember what make it was,me and ICE are not best friends.:rolleyes:
 
Some of the earlier L322s share heritage and ICE / satnav systems with BMW X5s (the E53 model) - there are loads of posts and how-tos re the digital tv installation in X5s, and there are various options on websites like toysinyourcar.com. The digital receivers fitted to BMWs of the same era as the CANBUS- enabled L322s will fit as a plug and play option, but they are difficult to find and expensive, as analog receivers become useless. It is possible to use a lead from a vendor like toysinyourcar to plug into the loom behind the analog receiver which will then also accept an AV-input, so you can easily add a small 12v digital box. Some BMW owners are fitting VEBA boxes - they seem quite popular - but as my own X5 has a digital receiver I don't have personal experience of which box works better, just that its fairly easy to do on older L322s: once BMW sold Land Rover the system was changed and I have no idea about the newer models.

Think you mean ibus? the ICE system does not use CAN, only then engine/transmission uses CAN in the early L322's
