Hi All

I am trying to get the satnav screen out of my 2001 4.6 vogue and am worried about breaking something.

I need to know how much space is behind it and establish if my doube din headunit could be fitted in its place.

I have removed the oem headuint and the two screws behind it and now need to remove the top wooden piece that has the clock on it and the switch surround.

I dont want to tug it incase there are other screws/clips that i havent noticed and break it.

How does this trim piece of the centre console come out

Thanks

Chris

Thanks
Ive found the way, I phoned the local Land Rover dealers who explained it to me.

You need to remove the two screws which i had already done by radio hole and then two further screws hidden, one of each side of the panel between the panel and the leather.

next the under steering wheel trim has to be removed and the instrument surround to allow the last trim screw to be removed. The trim piece just lifts off soon.

I had to pop out after that and will measure the area behind the satnav screen tomorrow to see if it is feasible to find way of fitting a double din head unit in place of the oem sat nav screen.

regards

Chris

Hi Chris,

Just been taking mine apart this week and it should take literally 10 mins to take off everything.

Did Land rover dealer try to sell you the specialist LR dash removal tool??

Better known as a philps screwdriver :D:D nothing else needed!

Lol
Yep and an expensive philips screwdriver too lol

It was the hidden screws that had me baffled.

I am hoping that the time taken wont be in vain and that I can find the space behind the old sat-nav screen for the double din headunit.

I am fairly optimistic, i think i will need to cut away some of the support frame inside the centre console underdash area and there might be just enough space between the front of the screen appature and the airconditioning unit. it looks close but I will know better when i can get the tape measure in tomorrow.

Some of the vacumn pipes might need to be repositioned as well posssibly.

I'll let you guys know

Chris

Chris,

How are you getting on with your Double Din Installation? started mine, the wiring loom is baffling me on how im going to interface into it, as i have the Harmon Kardon System on and 2004 Vogue.

I'm Sure theirs plenty of room, once some of the frame work is cut away.
