Looking to fit a 2.5NA diesel into my S3. Have been told that the front timing case is not particularly waterproof and that timing belts are hard to come by.
Can anyone shed any light on these comments please :D

I have an ex-mil 2.5 in my s2a.
No idea about water tightness but timing belts are freely available (in exchange for money) from any good landrover shop. And probably the bad ones as well.

Depends where the 2.5 came from. If it was a LR, it should be fine, if it was a Sherpa, then the timing cover is not sealed.
You'l need to know which before you buy a belt, as they are different.

Thanks everyone.
Bought it on Saturday :) Came out of a 90 (County) which had a cr4p chassis and was going for export. Started it up from cold and no smoke :D:D. No rattles or other noises. The Clio battery we had temporarily put on would only just turn ity over  but mobile battery started it fine.
Should be in soon  Maybe my oil bill will now go down.

Up and running now, superb motor, will go over 55 . Now the mudsheild has come away and the front panel needs replacing (couldn't get one while stripped down). It never stops does it :(
