Headlights

Hi Guys,
Would it be possible to wire a relay to the high beam signal to keep the low beam illuminated at the same time as my lights are crap? Or would this burn the bulbs out too quickly?

get some of them 90%+ bulbs from halfrauds

Drive with fog lights on....every other tosser seems to be these days.

Cheers for the responses so quickly, i did think about the fog lights lol, but they don't work either. I will try the wiring relays at the weekend and see how that goes, thanks again.

do NOT take the power from the usual source - yu will burn out the switch.

I bought a set of 8" Wipac spots from Rebel 4x4 with 100w lamps. Given Wipac used to have a bad name and only 4o quid, I was dubious of the quality and light output.

I shouldn't have been, they are superb, have a great beam pattern and look great.

So the best option is to wire them as per the link you made in post 4 then?

Nothing to stop you keeping the dip beam on with main beam, used to do it all the time when I was younger without problems.
To be honest a pair of good spotlights is the answer imo.

yes there is - coz all the power goes through the light switch on the stalk - it is prone to burning out normally - you are now intending to (almost) double the current through it .
yes - do it as per the link.

Didn't say how it could be done just said you could do it.
If course it would be done thro a relay.

Just bought some Philips Extreme Power bulbs (h4), not fitted them yet. Already put H7's on my other car and it's a great improvement.

Was thinking of wiring the fog lights as driving lights (i.e. so they come on with full beam), to "fill in" the near ground when full beam is on. Maybe upgrde the bulbs in the fogs as well.

The fogs do absolutely nothing for visibility when dip beam is on, except attract the police (often the cops stop people with fogs on as an excuse of a breathyliser)....

Its head lamps or fog lamps never both, and why do these people switch both on in daylight?.
Don't they know that fogs have a flat top beam to help reduce the white-out flare that you can get from using head lamps at night in fog.

So turn off head lamps and switch on fog lamps if their use is required.

Mine wouldn't be much use even if they worked, the reflectors are a strange rusty colour so i think candles would be better than them

I would follow the suggestion of simply changing the headlight bulbs first, if that does not work try adding some spot lights.

You will find a massive difference with just the new bulbs.

I would question the heat generated inside the light by running dip and full beam.

I used to run 100w dip 130w main beam, however a river crossing sorted both out. Very hot glass meets very cold river = cracked headlights.

Now I run the Halfords, with the added benefit of being legal.

Already treied different uprated bulbs and although better they are still not brilliant, don't really want to fit spotlights either so just want to alter the lighting slightly for better infill.
