As the thread title says - I need a new radiator for my Disco II TD5 2001.

So far I've looked on line at:

Paddocks
Rimmer
Land Rover Parts.Com
Island 4 X 4
Craddocks
Famous 4

Prices range from £117 for a pattern one from Paddocks to £212 for a genuine part from Land Rover Parts.Com.

Any one got any other suggestions on where to buy one from?

Cheers

Thanks for the extra links all - I know this might be a daft question but is the ebay one the right radiator? is there more than one for Disco II's ?

My replacement second hand radiator arrived from "the bay" and having checked it out I started fitting it armed with a few printed pages from rave and a new pair of hose clip pliers.

All was going well until it came to refitting the radiator bleed pipe to the small spigot on the top of the radiator. Only at that point did I notice the spigot was broken off, I checked the packaging the rad came in but it's not there, I can only assume it was broken already.

So I can contact the seller and try to get a refund or try to repair the spigot by cutting the one off the old leaky radiator and trying to glue it back on or cut my losses and buy another rad.

The big question is will a repair hold or am I inviting more trouble?

Picture attached, thanks in advance for any helpful advice

Cheers Storm - Rad was £40 plus £12 postage - so not a fortune but still don't want to throw money down the drain.

I'd not thought of a sleeve but it might be a bit tough to do as there's not much of the spigot left on the rad.

Might well give that a go - best I'm going to get back if I go for a refund is £40 less postage so that's only around £25.

Do you reckon I should I use hot glue gun, araldite or super glue (or all three!)

I'd not use any glue..the heat of the rad will melt them..if you must, then i'd go for liquid metal..if you put a metal sleeve on.

I'd still go the rubber tube way to be honest. Nice and tight.

consider a 1 1/2 inch lenght of 8mm threaded bar with a 3mm hole drilled down it centre,
tap the rad 8mm and screw it in with a few wraps of ptfe.
personally i would send it back and try and get the delivery paid for too as not as described.

edit. or a 1/4 bsp tapered fir tree pipe fitting.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm either going to try tapping a small pipe in to the rad or plastic welding/epoxying the spigot from the old rad on. Will let you know how I get on.

Now you have said that you have received it you would have to return it by registered post to get a refund, unless you have bought it from a seller registered as a business. Then they have to pay the return post, but you would probably have to fight for it, but under the distance selling regulations they should pay, but only when they have received it back. Could be more hassle than than its worth.
If all other suggestions dont work try this stuff it seems good, but i would try the cheaper options first.
