Afternoon folks,

I've done a search and can't seem to find any similar problem to this one -

When I have no lights on and press the brake pedal, the side lights, front and rear come on. When I put the side or headlights on, the brake lights are permanently illuminated.

I been through all of the wiring and checked the lamps/earths etc and still no joy.

Has anyone had any similar problems?

Cheers
Rob

I ended up removing the fuses to see if I could isolate the problem circuit. Turns out that the fine wires that support the filament on the O/S rear tail lamp had warped and were in contact with the uprights that hold the brake light filament so when I put on the side lights, it was feeding 12v to the other brake light. When I applied the brakes, it was feeding 12v across to the side light circuit.

It wasn't obvious that the lamp was defective as I only looked to see that both filaments were intact, it only became apparent when I isolated the circuit and caused me to again (4th time) to check the bulb.

Lesson learnt!!!!
