OK, the electric seat switch for my drivers seat is broken - the base moves forwards, back, up and down, and the back rest tilts back..but won't tilt forwards! Motor works fine (otherwise it wouldn't tilt back!) so I'm guessing the switch is faulty.

Now, I've found a replacement switch but it has the memory buttons on it, which mine doesn't. Will this work on my car? And will the memory buttons work, or do I need a different ECU somewhere for those to work? Wasn't sure if the memory was in the switch itself...

Cheers!

Memory seat functions can be set in the BECM, but I would expect it's a bit more complicated than just the switches. The ECU has to know the position of the seats in order to re-position them, not sure how that is done.

The Becm needs to be a "H" line for starters,
Also the memory seats have their own outstation which is located in the seat frame under the drivers seat. It also needs the correct harness. The door mirrors are also controlled by the outstation as they have matching position memories linked to the seat settings. The memory door mirrors have different internal electrics/wiring to the standard electric mirrors.

Thanks for the info guys.

Its a Classic RR, not a P38 - does the Classic still have a BECM system? I was under the impression that was P38-specific.

I'm not bothered about the memory functions working, would have just been an added bonus but I didnt think it would!

Will the adjustment switches work though, simple plug and play swap over?

Cheers!

Got classic seats in my disco. The switches can be taken apart and cleaned but be careful not to lose the little bearings. There's a guide on the web on how to clean them but don't have a link handy.

Maybe check out RAVE to see if the new ones can be retrofitted (doubt it though)

OK, so I may be able to fix the existing switch without the need for replacement then? A link to a guide would be superb...Cheers!

OK, will give it a go - hopefully some contact cleaner will sort it out! Not doing it today though, its snowing and thus too bloody cold!!
