VCU Torque test results

Its not "my" test. Its a thread which I posted with info available from other sites.
Yu do not need to remove the VCU, as you are recomended to use a torque wrench on the rear wheel.
No-one is forcing anyone to do the test. You dont like it, then thats fine. Dont do it. Of course "your" test has its place. It is better to check a VCU regularly than not check it.
As to whether i still "get any" or not or whether I am a "cock" or not is neither any of your business or any relevance on this thread; which us asking for those who DO decide to do that particular test to please post their results, so that data can be collated for the prospective benefit of others.
You seem to have missed the point that it is not "my" test. I have just collated a couple of similar tests publicly available on the internet that several peeps consider good tests to do. I do not have a gaylander :puke: any more, so it is not of any benefit to me. Your personal attacks on me and your continued slating of a recognised and valid test tells more about you than me, now lets stop this silly childish posting and let peeps that want to do the test, post their results.
I will not continue with this banter.

But its not a valid test as there are no proven results ANYWHERE!

My beef is not with the test. It is with the way YOU responded to my post's. The way you slated the fact that i DO have experience working with these units. I also dont see where your work in any way has anything to do with engineering, and also i dont see a chartered engineering symbol on your company website. Your full of ****. If you cant handle being spoken back to m8, then i suggest you think twice before being negative to people and there posts. Its easy to hide behind a computer, but be carefull when your name and address is all over the internet, Richard.

Blah Blah Blah. another serial poster

:banplease:

Right, read this from the start to this point.

MHM was offering data and advice gathered and tested by various people..

Ripped off queried this viewpoint...fair enough.
Then he started acting like an arse, verbal insults etc..i'm sure MHM can cope with the little boy lost his dummy syndrome...but threatening to reveal MHM's identity over what is basically a difference of opinion is well out of order.

Grow up Rippedoff, people can disagree...

Another childish comment.

Ive followed this thread from the start so i think that entitles me to have my say.

Whether you two agree or disagree or whether you want to slag each other off doesnt concern me its a public forum thats the whole point but to make threats like you have? Thats completely out of order.

Eeerm, did i threaten anyone???? looked more like advice to me. took me 2 mins to find out who he is and where his business is. I didnt say i was going to go and do anything did i? Another forumight jumping to conclusions and not reading posts properly. If he chooses to but his info up for pubklic display than thats his fault.

Bit blinckered by MHM are you? Bit of a hero of yours is he? Twas he who threw the first insult m8. I suggest you go back and start reading again. i was voicing my opinion, he told me i was talking complete Bollox about something i actually know quite alot about. Had you and he read my posts properly, you would have seen that i was stating quite a valid point until "MR Cant Be wrong" couldnt handle the truth. I especially liked the part where my poltry 20 years experience was dissed by his 40 years chartered engineering. Myself a couple of my work m8's found that really funny. The difference is i work with these things more or less every day. This guy has probabley only glanced at one while looking under his car.

Thanks for the laugh guys, Its been emotional. Atleast i know where to go now if i want a bit of telephone wire :hysterically_laughi

So when are you going to share the secret of your wisdom rather than put down other respected members of this forum and insinuate threats? What is the difinitive VCU test? All you have done is slate MHM for trying but as yet haven't offered up anything constructive.

Here comes the other musceteer spouting the word respect again. :hysterically_laughi
what a tosser. Read my first posts again. I offered a simple solution to test a vcu. I dont appreciate being told im talking bollox by someone who has probably weaned everything he knows about landrovers from this and probably other websites. He is basicly a plagerist. if he chosses to argue every point the he should accept back lash. As for my knowledge, i learnt all i know by getting my hands dirty. If you have a problem with that then your a cock too.

I can see you're making friends fast here.

If you don't know the answer then just say so.:doh::doh:

The question was and still is 'How can you tell the difference between a viscous failing in the open position and a correctly functioning vcu?' Am I correct in saying that your 20 years experience say that a viscous cannot fail in the unlocked position? Cos if that is the case I would suggest a career change

Why is it everybody but you knows what he's on about yet you're the 'alledged' expert?

Sounds to me like yer just the typical' big I am' gob****e that likes to think they know what they're on about without having a clue. I believe these are commonly known as 'managers'. If you want to know what's going on try asking the workers.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

So this idiot knows how to test if the vcu has failed, but can't see that Daft is after a set of figures to show the varying degrees of failure between a fully working vcu and one that has failed locked and one that has failed open. Or do vcu's act like a switch- on or off, work or don't work?

Dont think they can do, Gratch, coz some fail by siezing solid and some fail by giving no drive. Most appear to fail by siezing, but the other failure mode is not unknown. That is most likely because if it siezes, it is normally found after it has destroyed other bits of the drive train. If it fails in a no-drive mode, it snt so easy to identify.

Yes - feedback would help identify if the torque test can be used definitively, rather than just a guide.
