LRO anti P38?

I got given a subscription at Xmas so I have to endure it. This month's issue is particularly tedious. Even less of interest than usual.

I want to know why they give the classic 5 stars for off road capability yet the P38 only gets 4. They really are anti the P38.

All their staff vehicles are almost identical as well so they just go through how to do the same old jobs on a defender every week.

I thought Land Rover Monthly was a lot more interesting, but more difficult to find.

Just my 2 pence worth.

When I first got my P38 I emailed a question in to LRO 'technical experts' asking about the reason for my steering vibration / wander. 3 Months later (no email reply) they published my question and in a round about way suggested I should probably re-build the front end suspension.

Thanks to you lot, I changed the tyres instead and sorted it out.:D

Yes, LRO is very anti-P38, for the Range Rover 40th anniversary feature they completely trashed it! Air suspension faults, blah blah blah, its the only tune they know.

They could have made a really interesting series of articles based on their P38 project car, but they just couldn't be bothered with it. I vaguely remember them having a good old rant about the difficulty of changing a wheel bearing and then it just seemed to disappear.

After all, what's the point in them having a project car that doesn't have anything wrong with it, but that seems to be all they buy.

I just love useful articles about putting a roof rack on a defender. A real challenge that must be. Even my Dad managed to fit one himself!

I often think it's a real shame that there doesn't seem to be a central repository for all the really great advice and walkthroughs that appear on here. They tend to just disappear and they're really hard to find again when you need them.

Perhaps we should start our own P38 magazine! I'll volunteer my ongoing gearbox problems as a starting article! Just need an 'expert' to sort it out!

They are that short of articles they are asking the readers which is their favourite old story and they will republish it :whoosh:....

How many times can you rebuild a series/defender?? 50 years and the havent realised the only new technology in the oversized meccano kit is the mobile phone in the drivers pocket!!!:5bsmilielol5:

Britpart this and Britpart that ...get your tounge out of Britparts Arse....

No mention of the poor quality and short life....

In LRO All P38 information will be censored and if possible will be deleted or brushed over from Land Rover history! Why do they not read the forums and see the Britpart issues we all have. Its a joke.

because the only forum they are intrested in is there own!
even when people have asked about classic problems if it involves air they don't help!
the p38a is a good motor get one of the last and it is like the last classics well speced then dumped just as they get it right.
if you look at it they don't really cater for the l322 owner too again all that electrical trickery is vodu for prople still faffing about how wounderful a 200 tdi series conversion is!
maybe they are due some new wrighters but if they like newer models they mite be hypnotised so they only wright about old motors and 90/110 od d1/d2
I applied for a wrighters job once but got nowhere proberly because i wrote about a eas problem and how i fixed it! proberly to technical for them!

So who has read LRO this month? No P38 in the top landrovers to buy, but a few lines on how bad and unreliable the P38 is !!!! Yes they do need tlc but the constant moaning about the P38 (and lack of P38 features) is biased as usual. They should rename it Landrover 90 with Bling owner or Britpart supporters club!!!

GOLD! :hysterically_laughi :hysterically_laughi :mooning: :mooning: :hysterically_laughi :hysterically_laughi

Buy a classic , or 3 :p

Before I bought my P38 I checked a whole load of back copies of LRO - not a peep on P38's but loads and loads and..... on defenders and 200/300tdis.
Someone said Land Rover Monthly hard to find. Look in an Autoexpress at W H Smiths library, check out their subscription address and buy Land Rover Monthly from them at a discount!!! Simples!
Oh, and I found Rimmer Brothers free P38 catalogue to be pretty good, plus good service from them for the bits I bought.

Yes, had subscription before buying my P38, went on here to get a balanced view and bought one, 3 months to endure after buying it and could not believe they bought a crap used P38 then rubbished it as it was crap, poor, poor journalism, they didn't even do their own buyers guide checks on the motor, so is it any wonder what a pile of crap it was!!!!

How feasible would a community made Magazine be. I can contribute the graphical stuff, I'm sure we have good writers and some of the best mechanics on this forum.

What do you guys think?

I've often thought that, but some might argue that the forums perform the same job.

I'd prefer a magazine format!

:D:D:DThe mag would be a great idea but would not detract from the forum's instant replies.
It would in my view complement the forum.:eek:

:confused::confused:Just my thoughts.:confused::confused:

The mag can never replace social atmosphere in the forums. I think it will increase on the number of owners , by explaining and solving alot of issues already done here in forum but all in a glossy format :D

Think it should have
Not just a Page 3 but a page 4 and 5.
A problem page - how come yours is bigger than mine etc etc
A puzzle page - what size tyres etc
For sale section - novel idea
Singles page

but to name a few
