Hi,

I swear my Freelander thinks it's a helicopter, at least the back end anyway. If I apply moderate braking pressure, the back end will raise right up into the air. (in comparison with the front) At first I thought this was pretty cool but apparently it's not quite so cool for the passengers in the back, they say it gets annoying.

Any idea why it does this? Any way around it apart from babying it? It's not as though I drive it hard either. I've never had this issue before in any other car unless I braked immensely hard.

Cheers

Rich

Is it a function of the design? High C of G throws more mass forward on to a vehicle with a relatively short wheelbase, and which has a reasonable compliant suspension system so it can get it's wheels on the ground on roughish terrain? In the extreme think of a bike doing stoppies.

Having said that I haven't had complaints from my back seat passengers, but maybe they like that sort of thing.
