Hi everyone, I joined a few weeks ago, because the Banger Track I am Chief Marshall at, uses a Disco 200 for a pace car and pushing off....anyway.....

I am considering buying a Freelander, Diesel as I want to tow a caravan, weight about 1300kg, about 22ft length.

I don't want new and want to spend around 3.5 k.

What do I look for? (noises, cock up jobs, etc)
Where do I check for future problems? (damp carpets, rattles, etc)
Should I go to a dealer? (Piece of mind warranty)
Do I buy a different car? (What like?)

Cheers in advance.

Karl

3.5k should get you a good td4,i just bought a 2002 td4 serengeti for that,75k and only 2 owners and service history, bmw engine good, they dont rust they have their problems but im on my second now and love them, check the prop shaft is fitted a lot of people take them off claiming its for economy but usually cause the vcu has failed and buggered the ird unit,so if you can drive it on full lock backwards and forwards left and right if it making banging and crunching noises walk away,im sure someone will be along with more stuff

burn your brain dumb ass and get a tdi

Why don't you buy a brain so you can type something more than a couple of words in posts or maybe come up with something original instead of the same **** all the time... dumb ass :p

And shove your fender up your ass.

I won't bother asking anymore? I can't get drawn into arguments and troubled discussions, I have had enough of that ****e on forums, so will steer clear of this one too...Thanks, Beast of Bodmin for putting me off.....Bye E1

Ignore them. They're probably middle aged men with nothing better to do other than try and act smart on an internet forum. Instead, they just look like complete pricks. The reality is that they're probably uneducated, fat retards in rl who wouldn't say boo to a goose!

Your probably correct there.
It is difficult to get into a clique nowadays, especially one that is full of of overfuelled testosterone egotistical nobody's that think they know it all.
I asked a simple question, then got answers from members that don't own the vehicle I asked the question about.
I don't think I am as far up myself as you and some of the unhelpfull prats on here are. By the way, "it would be a shame if the engine blew up" would it? like it would be a shame if you found your 110 was a ringer and you lost everything (*Wishes Hard*) I hope your 110 costs you the earth to fix one day?

As for you being educated?

Rooster is a name, so is a capital letter.
It is also the start of a sentence, so is a capital letter.
RichM, again a name, capital letters.
"it be a shame", word missing, it WOULD be a shame.
"Not sure why yay interested but still..." yay, should be you're and there is no question mark.

GoonArmy, befitting name for one like yourself!
Educated, more like dragged up!!!!!!
