Yesterday me and a m8 changed the clutch on my 2000 1.8 freelander and what a git of a job it was!!!every nut/bolt was bloody tight and 2 bolts on the exhaust snapped(grrr)!!!.Anyway i changed because of heavy pedal and clutch smell when hot, once we finally got the box out i could see the clutch had got hot but the realease arm was almost solid as a lot of dust in bellhousing had siezed it so i stripped it down and bit of grease and works a treat now.Gutted because it ****ed down with rain and i was laid underneath it on stands trying to drill the broken bolts out of exhaust and it was like laying in a river so finally through the towel in at gone 7 last night and it still remains on stands with just exhaust and gear oil left to do but no time till weekend!!.But i did find a split in a vacuum pipe which i hope is causing a bit of hunting, checked the drivers lower tie rod mount which is completely knackered hence movement on engine..
I also did the vcu torque test again and i checked my m8,s who has hardley any tightness on full lock and the pressure needed to turn the wheel was abouth the same?so now gonna just leave it alone and stop worrying about the vcu!OH and to top if off when i connected battery back up the rear window went down(i never noticed for ages :( ) and the rain flooded my boot because of the angle it all ****ed in,OH and i ache like mad today!!OH WELL U GOTTA LOVE EM!!!

HeHe, all part of the fun

You should have done the NI method, saves being on your back for hours.

Check my thread on engines mounts

Could be worse you could have gone through all that and put a 1.8 petrol box in your 2.0 L series like i did..... Ebay gotta love it:rolleyes:

On the plus side its got great low range now, low range for off road and fuel economy!! But goes like a scalded cat.....
