whats the best engine to get?

hi, i have had a freelander for the past 9 months or so, i love it to bits but have always regreted not buying a 90. i have been looking round and was wondering what engine to go for. i dont care what the car is like on the outside, so long it runs well i will be happy. i have spoken to a couple of people and the tdi300 has been suggested.. the problem is i have around £3000 to spend and most of the 300's have done 150,000 miles or more in that price range.

ow! and im only 18 so there is no way im getting insured on a V8 : (

A well looked after 300tdi should be capable of 250k.

...i see a 200 tdi at me bros with 276 000 on it and all good.still pulls like a train....

my bros 200 tdi has 276kmiles on is is still strong...

I have worked on diesel engines that have covered 400k and still run your 150k is nothing so long as you change the engine oil and filter regular not every 12 months at 15k more like every 5 months at 6k it will run nice and sweet.

Neglect is what kills an engine.

150k is just bedded in
