os maps?

If anyone's interested I might be able to get hold of one or two OS maps for people that need them... 1:50,000. Let me know if you need one, and I'll do my best to get hold of it...

Depends how good at map reading you are.....

1:25k maps are more expensive, but their advantage is they have field boundaries, so its another piece of information to help identify exactly where you are, if you need to. If you're pretty confident about map reading and have a good sense of direction anyway, then 1:50k will give you enough info.

yeah but you still need two 1:25's, to cover the same area as one 1:50

Nope - that would be four 1:25ks to cover the same area as a 1:50k.

I use 1:25 k maps for some very lane-rich parts of Wales, but for everywhere else 1:50 is the daddy.

If I use Memory Map on the PDA I use both 1:50 and 1:25 ... some bits need detail, some don't.

If I use the laptop then mostly 1:25 'cos the screen's bigger and can see more of the area ..

No need to buy maps if you search the net ...

oh yea

well i just use me laptop and gps dongle anyway, have got both for the whole of gb on it anyway
