I just know that the italian Police got them. The car is described as slow, underpowered and thursty.
One told me it is a Honda engine but I don`t know for sure.

i agree with all the negative comments above , i was naive enough to buy one , they are very underpowered and very heavy on go go juice , i get about 17 or 18 mpg with a 0 - 60 of about 3 months.
i am saving up for a fender instead , did look at maybe a doozil transplant but its too expensive , and i would struggle to do it meself.

Have to agree with many of the comments above a friend of mine had one for a bit but got rid of it bad on power and fuel.

My friend bought one, not a Land Rover man otherwise but found the low mileage 'bargain' MPI on eBay. And why was it a bargain? :) Not too bad to drive, but it is clearly underpowered and thirsty. How on earth did the Italian police ever get anywhere?

In Finland they tax you on everything, including diesel cars (a pre-2002 Disco will go up to over a grand a year in tax next year!) so he's thinking it's worth sticking with it as you avoid the diesel tax. I can't help thinking he'd be better off with a V8 though - surely there is some wisdom in the claims that a bigger engine will use less juice than a little one maxed out?

On Top Gear Jeremy Clarkson managed to show that the Prius used more petrol than an M3 BMW driven at the same speed when the Prius was pushed hard, it must be the same for a 2.0 engine pushing over 2 tonnes of metal around!

I looked at these years ago, but was put off by all the above plus apparently the cylinder head was prone to cracking between the valves.

werernt they made for the fleet market, big car for pretending ya important, small tax cos ya aint?
If they were any good more would have been made
