  • Hi,
I have a yr2000 1.8 Freelander with 58000 miles that clonks from the rear when i pull away, gentle use of the clutch can ease this.
Ive read on here that the rear diff front mount is the likely suspect, so i had a look underneath. There is a black metal band attached to the transmission tunnel above the diff which is indeed marked slightly in the centre as if the ridge on top of the diff has hit it. The prop and all uj's seem ok with no play.
The front mount does look shot, the bolt does not sit central as it does with the rear two. I can see the three bolts that hold it in place and can get at them ok, but it doesn't look like theres going to be room to remove the ally mount when Ive undone them.
Will it come out ok, or am i going to have to take half the car apart to get the damn thing out? Also is it ok to replace just the front mount or do i have to do all 3 at once, the rear 2 look fine.
    Thanks for any replies
