it looks as though you have been through a lot of sand or mud if it is sand then that will ware anything out .

try the electrical cleaner again or some safe wash then put it on the radiator over night its worth a try the safe wash might be better if you can get it.

i think he means the actual wire which can not be got at as they are imbedded in the glass
