my saga is ongoing. had delivered disco donor and my 90 with broken gearbox to garage for conversion quoted at 1200+gearbox. price has gone up and up. he wants to put recon ashcroft box and modified transfer box in adding 1200. said no.

happened upon a landrover restoration place in the middle of nowhere in norfolk and chanced my luck. they had just removed a td engine with gearbox. owner wanted a recon box but he said it would be a waste to send that one as it had virtually unworn gearbox with modded/uprated mainshaft. so hes sending off an old one. sold me it for £75. garage fitting it.

going to do conversion with mate who has full facilities. so fingers crossed
