    Check your steering tube as some track rod ends are full threaded early ones have a shoulder on track rod end for the tube clamp. Different part numbers.

    The glow plugs can have 12v to them but that’s not proof they work, there should be a low resistance between lead and block which is a better test. But need all the power leads disconnected first Is all injectors working ok

    No boiling water , used some grease and put ally bit in vice which helped, I cut a couple of inches off which helped get it into place. So that’s sorted , now waiting for new transmission brake shoes to turn up , old ones very pitted with me...

    Did you try dipping it in boiling water, using lubricant, and forcing something conical into the pipe first to stretch it a bit?
