iPhone but I turned them off years ago and I do not know (or want to know) how to turn them back on.

I think this image is it, for the BMW equivalent M62, showing a straight line due to vanos? I normally do not get over 1,500 RPM in my daily driving, so I am barely using the power of the car, but I feel no need to do that. Given that the...

Very good point. I do not know how to do emoji but if I did I would do the same face. I am now wondering how to find the torque curve of the 4.4 petrol L322 engine...

I was not concerned but if I changed them for newer diffs without rust that adds a small extra benefit to making the change. I have no plans to change the diffs due to the rust. My aim was to reduce RPM during steady driving on motorways /...

I can manually select 5th gear if needed if it does not automatically change up.

Thanks. EDIT: I found out how to put myself on the map to be available to help others.

Wow what an amazing resource! Unfortunately the people near to me that have diagnostic equipment all mention that they have a generic OBD reader that can only read information from the car not to write information back to the car. I need the...

Go to main forum list, and start there. The LZIR thread has a link to the map.

My diffs are incredibly rusty. I mentioned that they are so rusty that the MOT guy mentioned them but I already was aware that they are really rusty. I am talking about flakes of metal falling off them when you touch them slightly, so badly that...

I am not sure on the physics of this but I think the engine in my 2002 L322 will do ok given that it is built to tow, and I will have myself, my dogs and not much else in the car. My main motivation is that there are long periods of steady...

I am sorry that I mentioned the fuel aspect, only to stop people saying that it was a waste of money. My main reason is to run the engine at a lower RPM on a long trip. Just to put a little bit less stress on a 23-year-old engine.

Just the many diffs that are available on eBay and from wreckers of L322s in the UK. As RRPhil mentioned elsewhere the 2.76 diff is from the 8 speed diesel L322 so they will all be relatively new diffs compared to mine from 2002 with 153k miles...

Thank you for this important information.

Changing the diffs will not affect the speedo as that is driven from the wheels via the ABS sensors.

I cannot seem to find this section of the website but I appreciate you suggesting it.

I'm not going to waste time answering your questions when you can look it up yourself if it actually matters to you. You can just Google L322 diff ratios or look for a second hand L322 diff with the ratios that I have mentioned and see that they...

The SC has an 8 speed gearbox. I think the 2.76 diffs are from a diesel L322. The oil was dark when I changed it but I have no reason to suspect that the internal diffs are not OK. But on my latest MOT they noted the rust on the diffs as a...

I am not the first person to modify a Range Rover to better suit their specific needs. In fact Range Rover changed from a five speed gearbox to a six speed gearbox to an eight speed gearbox. I don't see any problem with improving something...

The guy that I bought the car off had died two years earlier and his widow sold it to me and she was German and barely spoke English. I have no idea what it was used for. I noticed many strange things with the car such as the rear right height...

I'm not dropping revs or running at higher revs. With my current differentials at 70mph on the motorway it runs at about 1,300 RPM. With the 2.76 diffs it will run at maybe 1,100 RPM. So a lower RPM for long trips. I would not put more stress on...

RRMaximus replied to the thread L322 NV225 solenoid leak.
If I cannot find out the details of the o-ring (if that is the correct solution) then I will probably have to use the sealant. As it is not leaking massively at the moment I can give it some time to see if someone has the answer. I will also...

Sealant can mean any sealant including silicone. Gasket sealant is a special product designed to mimic a gasket. Therefore if there was a gasket there then it would mimic that gasket and achieve the same result. I don't know if it normally has...

Yes I have seen this and other diagrams and I have measured my suspension and every wheel arch is exactly 5 centimeters too high.

RRMaximus replied to the thread L322 NV225 solenoid leak.
I cannot remove the solenoid and drive to my local friendly garage motor to get a new O-ring. So I would need to get the O-ring first and then take off the solenoid and put the O-ring on it and replace it. But I cannot find any information on...

I have a 2002 4.4 Petrol L322 with front and rear diffs at the ratio 3.73, with the 5 speed ZF5HP gearbox. My front and rear diffs are badly rusted on the outside but I do not believe that they need to be changed. I plan to make a trip from...

I have discovered that the previous owner of my L322 has most likely raised the height by 5cm by reprogramming the suspension offset. I can see this issue in my ride heights and in the offsets using my cheap OBD reader. My iCarSoft V2 allows me...

I have a 4.4 petrol 2002 L322. I changed the transfer case oil and found that it only had 1/3 the required amount. After that I noticed a leak that is most likely coming from the join between the solenoid and the transfer case. From images that...

Definitely do not look. I was so concerned that I created an account here just to find out what it was. Thanks for your help.
