I guess I will only know when i take it apart. I do know the bearing shells are just starting to show through to the copper so perhaps now is a good time to tackle it.
Just feels like its getting slower up hills, puts out plenty of black smoke on startup.
Have enjoyed reading your post...

How big is the brush? I think I was using something like a 2 or 3 inch brush for the panels and covering a panel pretty quickly. You have to work quickly but carefully if that makes sense. Maybe the brush is too small and it takes you to long to cover a panel?
Good luck, let me know how you...

No problem at all.
It sounds like the paint is skinning too quickly. When I did mine first time I tried a panel the sun was out as I thought that the right thing to do. The sun just made it skin really quickly and your description of treacle sounds about right. When i painted the car properly...

Hardly any brush marks. Paint straight out the tin, no more thinners needed.
Brush on and then lay the paint off. Work a panel at a time. Don't load to much paint on the brush.

Thanks

Careful preparation, no rushing and paint it on an overcast day and you can get good results. Brush painted mine with paint from the Paint Man.

I have a LT77 still in my motor with 300TDI fitted.
Thinking about a gearbox swap as its getting old and tired. Quite like the idea of a R380.
Am I correct to think that a stumpy R380 is a straight swap for the LT77? Do I need a different bell housing or can I keep what I currently have?
Thanks

Mine doesnt look to bad as it had some tlc late last year. A few years of trialing was showing its age. New wing, few bits and pieces and a tin of pastel green sorted it. Will be going down Friday, get scrutineered and trial Saturday. Afraid I need to leave Sat night to get home as work is...

Took the intercooler off and gave it a good flush out, changed the pipes as well as the previous owner had made a steel pipe between the turbo and intercooler from an old exhaust pipe which didn't fit - so he hammered the crap out of it with a lump hammer until it would fit passed the...
