Thanks Grahame
I had a couple of the 4.6 version previously but bolted in to P38's. I'm assuming the Disco is lighter which maybe easier on the engine. Normally I wouldn't bat an eyelid at an engine with 135K on it but its hard to find one here that has done much more which makes me think they...

I am considering purchasing a 2001 discovery 2 with 135000 miles. It has the 4.0L lump in it and is going for $4000. I don't do a lot of miles but I am worried about the miles (not high for US standards - my Jeep has 225K) given the checkered history of these engines.
Would you take the gamble...

It's not just a case of whether or not you can afford it. A car that constantly let's you down is just a right royal pain in the ass or worse if you actually depend on your car.
I had 2 P38's both were well maintained but little things going wrong took much of the fun out of driving them. I...

From what I read there was no need to change the compressor. I think the issue is lubrication and you have to add some to the older systems.

There are a few websites that give you the low down on how to convert to the new gas. I did some investigating last year in an attempt to repair the air con on my '93 jeep which has the R12 refrigerant. I don't recall it being difficult or pricey.

Quick question that may be related to this thread. Will a faulty viscous fan have any impact on the cooling when the vehicle is driving?

Hard work and paying for stuff is what I do also. There are millions who work hard and pay for stuff but just scrape through. All my life I dreamed of things way beyond my means and today I can say I have almost everything I have ever wanted. I started my career as an assist technician 25 years...

Its hard to visualise something I ain't ever seen. Can you describe it or post a picture?

Minty, did you get a chance to try my suggestion...

Its kind of one of those limited guarantees. Can't be held responsible if you don't play your part. But the principle can be used on anything. I live by it and all it takes is a little effort each morning and evening to change your mindset. I could tell you stories that would leave you with...

OK, so this might (will) sound really quacky but I swear it has worked for over a dozen times and never failed once.
Its all about visualisation. I'm a strong believer in " You get what you think your going get - so you you may as well think good things."
Tonight, about an hour before you go...

32kgs of special american talc coming right up. Oh, what size bags would your friend prefer?

I'm heading to London on Saturday (16th Nov). I have a spare baggage allocation (32kg) if anyone needs me to transport something. PM me with details etc.

I had that on both of my rangies. Did the same as you with blade swap but I never did get it sorted. It was so noisy that at times I chose to drive with intermittent wipe rather than listen to clunk clunk clunk doing my head in.

Your on. Send me your bank details and we'll go from there. I work for a Nigerian bank so this should go pretty smoothly...:D
