Don't know but all the diesels have the same alternator and the petrol changed around the time it went to Thor engine. Maybe they put more gadgets on requiring a bigger battery or maybe they realised they'd been a bit stingy with the original v8...

  6. Grrrrrr liked ThatchP38's post in the thread Another P38 ABS brake issue.

SOLVED!!! Thanks for all the help! After replacing everything involved with the brake system, I finally purchased a used fuse box on eBay in really good shape. Immediately the brake pump came on and abs, brake and TC lights went out. Such a...

  7. Grrrrrr replied to the thread P38A Mobiletron VR-VW010 alternator regulator..

I've got a feeling the early v8s had a smaller alternator with a 13.8V set point but then the later ones had a bigger one which possibly had a higher set point of 14.3V or 14.5V. the v8 ones are interchangeable. As long as you have a decent...

Nothing to do with Range Rovers unless it is an oil burner running on HVO but a topic we've touched on before and I think this guy is spot on. [MEDIA]

That's it. On the WABCO D you can take a trace with the Nanocom as long as you keep the speed below where the light goes out on the dash. So it should work with enfine running as long as it is still in diagnostic mode. I think the Nanocom mixes...

Thanks. Assume you mean the copper/stainless cage thing the sensor slides into? New sensors came with these and grease. Follow instructions I found on a YouTube vid and tapped both in with a rubber hammer until they stop.

  12. Grrrrrr liked jimmacD's post in the thread What size battery?.

I finished the restoration on it in 2011, ended up swapping out the 200tdi from my disco. The Perkins went for export, gearbox went for classic jag racing and made more than I paid for the RR and restoration costs! I couldn't live with it being...

  13. Grrrrrr liked Scotiawhiskers's post in the thread P38A Mobiletron VR-VW010 alternator regulator..

As I understand it the regulator reads battery voltage from the main charge cable and a live feed via the smaller ring terminal. Comparing the 2 tells it how charged the battery is and therefore how much current to feed through the windings,...
